CENTERBURG — Phillip R. “Phil” Haberman, 58, of Centerburg, died Monday, April 7, 2014, at Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus.

He was born Oct. 16, 1955, in Mount Vernon, to the late Fred Otto and Elizabeth Sarah (Scott) Haberman. A retired deputy sheriff with the Knox County Sheriff’s Department with 20 years of service. Phil also served as a Hilliar Township Trustee for 12 years and was a farmer.

Phil loved his family and treasured the time spent with his boys and his grandchildren. Phil was fortunate in that he was able to do what he liked for a living. He loved being with his boys farming and restoring old tractors.

Survived by his wife of 21 years, Laura Rene (Urban) Haberman and they married Dec. 26, 1992, in Centerburg; sons, David (Brittney) Fluty-Haberman of Centerburg, and Paul T. Haberman of Hamburg, N.Y.; and grandchildren, Benjamin, Jackson and Gracelyn Haberman.

Preceded by brother, Paul Frederick Haberman; and sister, Barbara Ann Martin.

Friends may call Thursday, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Sunbury Christian Church, 250 Rainbow Avenue, Sunbury, with services to follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mike Bratten officiating. Private interment for the family at a later date.
